SDK Introduction

Note

In 2024, webOS TV CLI has been upgraded to webOS CLI, and so has webOS TV Extension for VS Code to webOS Studio. The old webOS TV CLI and webOS TV Extension for VS Code are deprecated.

The following are the tools that webOS TV provides to support your app development.

  • webOS CLI - It is a basic tool that provides a collection of commands for from creating to installing and launching web apps in the command line environment.

  • webOS Studio - webOS TV provides an extension for developers who are familiar with VS Code.

  • webOS TV Simulator - webOS TV Simulator allows developers to test their app on a computer without a real device.

  • Beanviser - It is a graphical tool that measures the performance of apps or services.

Compatible platform versions of SDK tools

  • The latest-version webOS CLI, webOS Studio, and Beanviser support all platform versions.

  • Emulator is deprecated, and Simulator is provided instead for webOS TV 22 or higher. If you still need to use the Emulator for webOS TV 6.0 or lower, you can install it using webOS Studio | Packager Manager.
