Finalists to Engage With LG Team to Develop and Launch AI Based Services on LG Smart TVs

LG weBOS - Flutter Hackathon 2024

SEOUL, July 4, 2024 - LG Electronics announced a call for participants for the first global hackathon aiming to build opportunities for creators of AI based solutions and gaming services. Developers in global markets are invited to apply for a spot to present their ideas to LG Electronics executives on a stage at the event, taking place on September 27th in Seoul, Korea.

webOS platform has powered LG TVs for over a decade and has been acclaimed as a friendly user interface, allowing for easy navigation and customization and being set to drive the next generation of LG AI TV innovation. webOS is a web-centric platform, enabling developers to create third-party services and apps thanks to the easy-to-use webOS TV software development kit available and deploy the service to millions of home world-wide, allowing for an always growing ecosystem of global partners.

Committed to offering a diverse range of gaming services through its expanding webOS ecosystem, the company has been partnering with gaming industry leaders to bring its customers a broad selection of options for different preferences and interests, while advancing the gaming capabilities of its outstanding OLED TVs. A growing offer of cloud gaming services and family games are available in global markets.

Applications to participate in the hackathon are now open and will close on July 26th. Selected participants will be notified by mid-September.

Event

  • Virtual Pre-Hackathon Webinar : Early July
  • Theme: 1) Game or 2) Lifestyle Service App using either the Web or Flutter framework, earning additional merit points utilizing Artificial Intelligence
  • Submission: App, Scenario and Demo Video by August 26th
  • Presentation: Selected winning participants will be invited to present their innovative ideas to LG Electronics top executives at the event in Seoul, South Korea on September 27th.

Prizes

  • First Place: $100,000 cash prize
  • Second Place: $80,000 cash prize
  • Third Place: $50,000 cash prize
  • The winners must launch their apps in LG Content Store by the end of June 2025.

Mentorship and Support

Throughout the event, participants will receive technical support until the launch of the app and on-device promotion opportunities after the launch.
